FEBRUARY MADISON MATTERS

Giving Back: Celebrating MLK Day

At Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, our members are always looking for new ways to serve their communities, become leaders amongst their peers, and make their neighborhoods more positive and safe. Last month, members from our Columbus Clubhouse decided to give back in celebration of Martin Luther King,Jr.

Last month, Clubhouse members from the Project Graduate program completed a day of service on MLK Day by visiting St. Barnabas Hospital and POTS in the Bronx. Members created and designed get well cards for the sick children admitted to St. Barnabas. During this process, the members researched different illnesses affecting youth, became curious about more ways they could help, and demonstrated genuine concern and compassion for the kids to whom they were writing.

On MLK Day, the members presented the cards to hospital administrators who were incredibly grateful for the act of kindness. Although, the members did not get to meet with the patients, they knew their impact would be felt throughout the hospitals. By aligning our members with the principles that make up our Good Character & Citizenship curriculum, we are able to continue to give back to our communities.

Embark on the Journey of Madison Square Boys & Girls Club

As 2018 continues to move swiftly, we can’t help but get more and more excited for what’s on the horizon for Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. This year’s digital campaign will focus on the Journey of Madison: where we’ve been, and more importantly, where we’re going.

After over almost 135 years in New York City, Madison Square Boys & Girls Club has written a unique story and made a lasting impacting on the thousands of youth we’ve served and continue to serve every day. As we evolve, our mission continues to become more and more important to the parents, kids, and communities we call family. This year, our digital spaces will highlight our journey in detail and bring to light all that we, along with our supporters, have been able to accomplish.

Stay tuned to all of our digital channels throughout 2018 as we take a deeper look at Madison’s history, the traditions and moments that have set us apart, and the magic that continues to bring hope to the youth that call our Clubhouses home.
