Thanks to our amazing partners!
At Madison we recognize that a supportive relationship with caring adults is one of the key elements to positive youth development. Through these relationships, members discover their strengths, are encouraged to take risks and learn from mistakes, and are provided with a variety of opportunities that encourage the development of new interests.
This summer, we were thrilled to welcome more than 270 volunteers from American Express, Con Edison, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, PwC, Santander, Salesforce, and Yahoo! who helped beautify our Clubhouses and spent over 90 hours with our youth as inspiring mentors for a day.
Whether we are getting our members excited about reading or inspiring them to pursue college and seek a challenging and rewarding career, the generosity of our Corporate Volunteers has enabled Madison to provide diverse academic enrichment opportunities for our members. Thank you all for empowering our members and volunteering your time this summer!
Mentoring tomorrow’s leaders
We believe that by providing our youth access to positive and productive after-school and summer programs as well as caring adult mentors, children can build the knowledge, skills and behaviors to put them on the path to a successful future.
Our teen population can be particularly vulnerable to the dangers and pitfalls of their surrounding communities, so we partnered with Con Edison employees to serve on college and career panels at two of our Clubhouses. Volunteers spent time with teens in our Project Graduate program, answering questions about college and their career paths and also offered great advice to our teens. At each Clubhouse, there was time for informal networking so teens were able to receive one-on-one advice from Con Edison volunteers.
Through the Project Graduate program, our youth receive academic support, one-on-mentoring, and timely intervention for those at-risk of dropping out of school. Members are also provided with individualized guidance and specific skill-building opportunities so that they not only meet high school graduation requirements, but also successfully navigate the college application process.
Celebrating our kids!
What better way to welcome fall than to celebrate a new year at the Clubhouses! More than 200 new and current members, along with their families, got excited for the year as they ran obstacles courses, did arts and crafts, and took part in educational and fun carnival activities at our 8th Annual Day for Kids!
The day showcases the importance of adults spending positive and productive time with our youth. Community partners and members of our Madison Council made the day extra special by dedicating their time. Each child that walks through our Clubhouse doors is told they are special, and important, and capable of fulfilling their wildest dreams, so we thank our supporters for helping us empower our members. A special thank you to Disney for providing backpacks for the new school year for all the children who attended!
