United States Navy Kicks Off Fleet Week 2011 at Madison Square Boys & Girls Club!
On Tuesday, May 24, our Navy Yard Clubhouse in Brooklyn opened its doors to members of the United States Navy for a special question-and-answer session followed by a dance party maestroed by a Naval band playing Top 40 hits that had our kids up and moving. As a gesture of thanks, our young members presented Chaplain Captain Bruce Boyle and Senior Chief Lissett Araiza with signed T-shirts thanking them for their service. On Wednesday, May 25, Bronx members got a taste of what it's like to be a Navy Seal when members of our Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse took part in a "Navy Seal Athletic Challenge" led by actual members of the Navy Seals.
Madison Square Boys & Girls Club would like to thank all members of the United States armed services for their dedication to our country -- and special thanks to the United States Navy for choosing Madison Square Boys & Girls Club as its Fleet Week volunteer destination! Visit our Facebook page for dozens of images from the festivities! This event was made possible because the United States Navy wanted to give back and reached out to Madison Square Boys & Girls Club to make it happen.
