Health and Life Skills

Providing programs that develop members’ abilities to engage in healthy, constructive behavior is of great importance.

This means gender-specific programming in Smart Girls and Passport to Manhood. Members in these programs (ages10-12) learn how to make decisions that will have a positive impact on their physical, social and emotional development.

Teen members (ages 13-18) have the opportunity to join the Youth Empowerment Program. In addition to teaching the dangers of drugs, tobacco and alcohol, this program involves learning positive decision-making skills and culminates with member-driven service projects.

Each clubhouse also coordinates and facilitates an annual Health Fair, which brings together myriad health service organizations and professionals in one place for club members, their families, and the community.
