"Without the club I would probably be lost. I need the club just as much as I need my family. They both give me the advice and guidance that I need."
- Ashley CorreaAshley Correa is not only tops on her high school's volleyball, softball and basketball teams, she's also an academic overachiever with her sights set on becoming an obstetrician. A member of the Columbus Clubhouse since the third grade, Ashley rounds out her school activities with participation in the clubhouse's Project Graduate, Youth Empowerment and photography programs - just to name a few! Now, as an older club member, she's also involved in mentoring younger members, which included spending the past summer working as a counselor at the clubhouse.
2005 Columbus Clubhouse Youth of the Year
With the help of a supportive mother and caring professionals at the clubhouse, Ashley has overcome great adversity in her sixteen years, including living in a shelter for battered women with her mother for a year. Her positive attitude, honesty and appreciation for what she has been given make her Columbus' 2005 Youth of the Year. These admirable traits make her a role model for her peers at the clubhouse and are certain to take her far.
