Ashley Correa

"Without the club I would probably be lost. I need the club just as much as I need my family. They both give me the advice and guidance that I need."

- Ashley Correa
2005 Columbus Clubhouse Youth of the Year
Ashley Correa is not only tops on her high school's volleyball, softball and basketball teams, she's also an academic overachiever with her sights set on becoming an obstetrician. A member of the Columbus Clubhouse since the third grade, Ashley rounds out her school activities with participation in the clubhouse's Project Graduate, Youth Empowerment and photography programs - just to name a few! Now, as an older club member, she's also involved in mentoring younger members, which included spending the past summer working as a counselor at the clubhouse.

With the help of a supportive mother and caring professionals at the clubhouse, Ashley has overcome great adversity in her sixteen years, including living in a shelter for battered women with her mother for a year. Her positive attitude, honesty and appreciation for what she has been given make her Columbus' 2005 Youth of the Year. These admirable traits make her a role model for her peers at the clubhouse and are certain to take her far.
